A buddy has asked me what the best weight bullet would be for his 22-250 1-14 inch twist, 22 inch barrel. So I thought it would be good to ask here!
Its a M77 Ruger Hawkeye All-Weather.
What company makes those bullets as well. He likes Berger, Barnes.
70 grain berger VLD bullets were completely sideways at 50 yards.
Any ideas?

50 gr. v-max over a charge of varget. Crows don't like it so much. If you need to buy brass anyway, try the Winchester white box 45gr. hp (comes in a 40 rd. box from Walmart). This load seems to shoot very well in lots of different rifles, and you end up with formed brass.

Had a M77 in that twist and now have a No.1 in the same twist. As stated several times above 55grs. or less always work. I'm going to try some Nosler Partitions in 60gr. as mathmatically they should also work given their short mass to length ratio.

+2 on the 55 or less. Might get lucky and be able to stabilize a 60gr with a 1-14 but that is a might??

+3.

(There are apparently loads in a reloading manual (don't recall which) for a 70 gr Speer with that cartridge and twist, but I have never tried it and I am skeptical, unless the 70 gr Speer is a really stubby bullet? )
