What caliber can be used to hunt in SW Ontario

I have yet to take my hunters safety course, but am looking at buying a new varmit gun.

What is the largest (and smallest) caliber that can be used to hunt with in S/W ontario. (specifically cyotes)

If i'm not mistaken, its .204 ruger all the way up to .270 rem .. right?

22 long rifle to the 270 cal in southern ont lots of guys ues 22 mag 22 hornet and stch for yotes as thy are cheaper to shot the 17s have been coming realy populare letly as well DUTCH
 
From the most recent (2008) Ontario Hunting Regulation Summary ...page 71.

" The holder of a small game license may not use a rifle of greater calibre
than .275, except a flintlock or percussion cap muzzleloading gun, for hunting small game in the counties of Brant, Elgin, Essex, Huron, Lambton, Middlesex, Northhumberland, Oxford, Perth & Wellington and the regional municipalities of Chatham/Kent, Durham, the former regional municipalities of Haldimand-Norfolk and Hamilton-Wentowrth, Halton, Niagara, Peel, Waterloo and York and the City of Toronto. "

Some were almost right: .... the .17 Mach2 and HMR Rimfires, the standard .22 cal. and .22 WMR (or .22 "Magnum") rimfires, and the various .17 calibre centrefires, up to and including the .270 Winchester & .270 WSM are all included in the calibers under .275. ( The .270's have a bore diameter (or "caliber" of 0.270" and a groove diammeter of 0.277", thus are under 0.275" - or .275 calibre )

By all means, get past your licensing requirements and get after those pesky Varmints. (yes, there is an "n" in varmint)
