Hi all! I'm willin to build my first rifle . I'll have a k98 action , but don't know in wich caliber to go. I already have a 6.5x55 and a .308 so if there is another great caliber i'll take all suggestion .

Thanks to all

I've always heard good things about .243. Also, 25-06 is also a nice rifle.

Building a rifle eh? It really won't matter what cal you end up building... from the people I know... it won't be your last build! :D

.223 makes a fun, cheap tack driver for dispatching varmints.
.25-06 is a nice flat shooting medium range round.
.338 is probably my next adventure, past the utility of the ubiquitous .308
.50 would be interesting if it didn't cost an arm and both legs to build and shoot!

The 6.5 is tough to beat for efficiency. The .25 cal is a close second but for some reason, popularity was never there.

A fast twist .22 might be in order. Mild recoil and excellent down range performance. 1-8 to 1-9 twist. .223 would be a very good choice. Lots of brass available as well as quality brass. Now feeding will probably be an issue as well as extraction so perhaps a 22 cheetah - .243 necked down to .22 (.22 middlestead) might be a better choice. You can still get quality Lapua brass in .243 and they should still work from the magazine.

The fast twist barrel will allow you to use high BC bullets like 70-75/80 grain bullets...

Lots of choices and ideas......should be good..

Hi all!
Oki now I'm stuk with 3 possibilities.

1. 260 rem or 280 but I did'nt heard a lot on this one so if tere some of you who knows more on that caliber give me your opinions

2. 243 or 6mm sound good to

3. Do another 6.5x55 or 6.5-284

I don't want something that have a big recoil , probably myy next will be a bigger.

thanks to all
