What can airguns do

Cheap to shoot, quiet (especially nitro pistons) and wont punch holes through stuff when dealing with pests inside a barn, a great many of them can be purchased without a PAL...but as stated above...they are no good at teaching English.

Welcome aboard

As suggested cheap fun to shoot. You don't have to worry about miles behind a target. I have a small range in the basement which gets used during the winter.

Guns are not strange, but you need licensing. Many airguns can be bought over the counter just by turning 18 years old so long as they are rated low enough (you will need a license for higher fps/energy airguns too).

Some "replica" airgun pistols can be used for hand gun proficiency training with a much cheaper cost per round as mentioned. There are higher power and larger calibre pre-charged pneumatic (PCP) files that can be used for small to medium game hunting... , and some even say larger game but that usually starts a debate ...which I am not doing here. You need all the same hunting licencing/training as with PB's and you need to know your game and gun to ensure you are hunting ethically. There are PAL and non-PAL rated rifles with several power plants which are excellent for target shooting and "Field Target" competition and just plan old plinking.

If under 500 fps AND 5.7 joules they are NON-PAL but classed as un-regulated firearms under the Act and Regulations AND fully considered as firearms under the criminal code. Local municipalities almost all have bi-laws restricting their discharge within municipal limits. Know the rules. If over 500 fps and 5.7 joules they are non-restricted (long gun) restricted (usually hand gun ) and can even be Prohibited. Know the rules. They are fun but not toys and can get you into trouble sooner than you may like to think. There are some airgun friendly gun clubs and in Toronto an airgun only club called GTAC which shoots once a week in a legal 50 foot indoor range on an airgun only night. There are airgun only forums you can search out for more information.

And welcome to CGN.

I agree with camster. I have used a fairly accurate air pistol with a respectable trigger to greatly improve my trigger control. I have been one of very few that go back top the range shooting as well as when I left in the late fall.

That's funny. Some people think they have successfully detected encrypted questions in the sequence of random words, but have provided answer in straight way.
