What can you Tell me about this AR15?

Hello gun nutz,

I ordered a Daniel defense m4 v5 with a 14.5" barrel,carbine gas system and 12" rail. I was charged extra for the change from a 16" to a 14.5" barrel. So i got the rifle in the mail today along with my SSA-E trigger and a few other goodies that i could not wait to install and have fun with this weekend but after opening the box my heart sank. This can not be a 14.5" barrel? my measurements come up as a 11.5? what do i have here? It is safe to say this will be shipped back and my weekend
is now ruined

yeah i know i tossed the idea around of keeping it but i traded my other AR's in for "exactly what i wanted". 10.3 and 14.5 are the only AR's that interest me because i am a picky bastard

the problem is i want to shoot it,but i doubt it can be taken back so i must resist temptation
 
Did you measure the barrel? Remember, you have about 2" of barrel inside the receiver, so a 12" rail should bring you to the end of the barrel, leaving only the flash hider sticking out. Basically, it looks like it should given the specifications you requested.

That said, the set up you received looks awesome.
 
the end of the barrel is inside the rail. the front of the ejection port door to the end of the flash hider is 14". so even being generous this can not be 14.5?

If this was a mk18 10.3 i would be ok and happy,but 11.5 is a little oddball for me
 
Looks like a 12" rail, thus it would be a 12.5" barrel... the barrel should be measured from bolt face to muzzle, you probably measured from approx. the receiver which would get you the 11.5”…

Drop a cleaning rod down the muzzle with the bolt closed, measure to the end of the flash hider. Also measure the hand guard, you may have got a 14" rail.

yes this is what i was expecting. i looked at set ups like this in a store and i remember more of the barrel protruding. thanks i just wanted to be sure i was not measuring incorrectly or just missing something.

Its clearly a 12" rail... you can tell from the number of rail slots... also, the barrel has to be measured with out the flash hider, or at least excluding...

Yes, thanks. Measuring the total length includes the flash hider. I can't believe I overlooked that. :rolleyes:

A flash hider will add about 1" to the over all length, so itks pretty easy to figure out what length the barrel is.

All I'm saying is one should actually measure all of these things before starting the thread.
 
+1 put the rod in on a closed bolt and measure, take off the flash hider length and you have your answer

i measured a few times and it never came to 14.5 INCLUDING the flash hider so there is my answer.....anyways i made it to the post office it is sent back
