I know it's not real special - it's not Patton's, and that's ok, because I already have Wild Bill's Winchester, Pancho Villa's Mauser and Hitler's Luger (as do 10,000 other guys). :p

Post-War Springfield. Stock has numbers that don't match the receiver. What about the barrel, refurbs etc - what do I look for?

Where is the stock marked? Some have arsenal refub marks like "AA 2345432" that are not supposed to match the serial number, it's a refurb batch number. These are found on the flat of the buttstock. Markings along the toe are usually Danish serial numbers.

The receiver S/N is shown in the picture "4372611".

"1857" is on the bottom of the buttstock between the wrist and the buttplate.

There's a "PP" or "PR" on the left side of the buttstock.

A 1950’s receiver, Post WWII barrel Korean War rifle, barrel is Oct 1953, the trigger guard is a 1950’s Korean war era type. I say it’s a Korean war Garand?

The barrel was heavily rusted at one time. The rough surface under the hand guard is pitting. Heavy pitting along the lower edge of the hand guard. You'd best take off the guard and have a look.

"What can you tell me about this Garand"........'Well..... Pilgrim, how does it shoot?' Not one of his lines, but it fits. Most important in my eyes.

Danes stamped them there. Check in the barrel channel of the stock to see if there is a zeroing sticker.
