Plated or solid? Used to have a solid 18K example that one of my grandmother's brothers gave her in WWI. Gave it back to his grandson in the end. No enamel and it was very finely detailed. ...

Could also be a tie or lapel pin depending on the back, though such things were not commonly worn in the WWI era by men AFAIK.

Undoubtedly something your GF picked up along the way. The well-prepared officer laid in a stock of such things for use on leave or in billets!;)

Its Solid but this one appears to be 10k. It was in my mom's stuff and my dad never new she had it and had never seen it.
