Hey just bought my first pistol :dancingbanana:
I was curious as to what case is a good choice for transport to and from the range?

Thanks,
Mike

Be discrete. You don't want to flag your neighbors or the people around you that you are transporting firearms. Some people use locked commercially marked toolboxes. Black and Decker, Mastercraft and the likes. If the original firearm case fits inside the toolbox, just put a lock outside the case and make sure the firearm has trigger lock. Another option is to use a pistol rug, compact and legal as long as you don't forget the trigger lock.

I found that most of my factory cases the pistols came in did not allow for a trigger lock (case has no foam, is too thin) or a cable lock that came with it. I bought a Pelican 1450 case, can carry as many as three pistols trigger locked at a time, with two padlocks externally. Covers the bases for transport.

The Seahorse from Wolverine is a real treat and good deal pricepoint.

Holds and organizes 4 handguns and I believe 8-10 mags as well. ONLY negative is that you need to use chamber locks or low profile ones in order to not disturb the foam slots etc...

who really cares if they know?
I would rather be open and honest about it while doing it legally than trying to conceal what I'm doing and look suspicious. I proudly carry my padlocked bright blue Smith & Wesson case out to the truck when I take it to the range. If I wanted to try to hide it, why not stick it into a plastic grocery bag to hide the case so you don't have to be putting your case into a case.

I like to use a lockable briefcase so it doesn't look like I'm carrying guns. For us, advertising is not a good idea.

Some say NO,
you are trying to conceal them.

Conceal them? Hell, yes, I'm trying to conceal them from a number of people in my neighbourhood whom I wouldn't trust to deliver flyers door-to-door.

I am glad you live in a place where you can be open and honest about your possessions. I live in one of the worst areas of my city (which, being Kitchener, is more humdrum than dangerous). It is full of old houses split into low-priced rental units. While the houses on each side of me are currently rented to respectable people, the house behind has a steady turnover of losers, addicts, and (at least once) pushers.

I'll keep on hiding my guns, thank you.
