Saw this at a gun show and spent the rest of my cash on some.
The information you see in the pictures is everything I can find. headstamp ".223 rem 78"

make sure to test if corrosive. the Czech 308 of that era was.

thanks guys, I know some of the 7.62x51 was corrosive, I clean my guns after every shoot (or shortly after) so i'm not overly concerned if it is.
would be a bonus if it wasn't

Not corrosive and boxer primed.
Shoot and reload!

sounds good to me, any personal experiance with the ammo?

I can't wait to give this stuff a shot, and wish I had more cash with me, i'll be keeping an eye out for this seller at the next shows.
I got it for $7 a box, bought 7 boxes maybe not a spectacular deal but cheap enough I thought.

The pale blue boxes and the red primer sealant looks very much like Czech .308 I bought ~20 years ago.
As CanAm notes, it absolutely was corrosive.

sounds like a wise idea to shoot it as if it was corrosive, i'll probably do the nail test but I don't have a ton of it so I could just clean it for corrosive everytime I use it.

Sorry for off topic but what is this nail test???

If you put a nail into a case with water in it, it will rust no matter if the priming is corrosive or not.

I think I've been reading it wrong. Even zooming in on the picture the date stamp is clearly 84 not 78 I don't know if that makes any differance as the evidence supporting corrosive 5.56 was made up until the mid 80's but finding ANY "for sure" information supporting corrosive 5.56 ever even existed is proving difficult.

I can't see how high the stack is, but if thats all of it, why not just blow off the whole lot in one shootsfest then clean as tho it IS corrosive and be done with it?

I was going to do that, but the guy at the gunshow had a lot more of it, if it was non-corrosive I'd Defenatly buy more of it at the next show.
When I started this thread I was hoping to find out where it came from and I'm still searching to the best of my ability and have yet to see anything. I just thought it was interesting. And a cool thing to have.
