a few weeks ago we had to do some dredging work down a local river, when we moved the crane to load onto the barge. we have not used the crane in about 4-5 years so they apeard sometime within the last few years. a pile of this brass was all aruond the crane. they seem to be dummy rounds (crimped at the neck, and dented primer, lots are still on links. they seem to be .223 rounds marked IVI at top, and 04 at the bottom (military??) they are on steel links witch are stamped AKS 02210 B-01

IVI stands for "Industries Valcartier Inc., Valcartier, Quebec, Canada".
So, they'd almost certainly be 5.56x45 military brass, produced in 2004, probably used in some sort of belt fed machine gun.

Probably someone got a kick in the dangly bit for losing them, last I heard the powers that be like to keep track of stuff like that.

5.56mm blanks for training. They're linked for use in the C9 mg (M249SAW in USA). The link and rounds separate when fired, so weird that primers are struck but they're still linked... Someone from the LSSR could probably explain how they got there...

just found out that the local coast guard/ port authority does have access to the dock, but they almost never go down there. its a abondond old dock with a few of my bosses spare engines and crap down there for the tugs, and a old tug thats rotting away.
