I picked up an 1889 WG in .455/.476 with the long cylinders and want to reload for it. I'll be using .45 Schofield cases with both .454 and .458 bullets.
Do I use the .45 schofield or the .455 webley dies?
The Schofield's rim diameter is 13 thou smaller than the .455. Suspect the rim thickness will be an issue too. Not a big one if you have the tools. The brass will have to be expanded by 3 thou too.
Epp's carries .455 Webley brass. It's a lot easier to use the right brass if you can.
.476 might just chamber a full length 45 schofield. rim may or may not be an issue. Laughingfool on here sells MKI .455 brass. MKII brass is a waste of time especially in your long cylindered gun.
The previous owners have used schofield cases with thinned rims and they extract well. I imagine that the brass will have a shorter lifespan, but oh well.
