Hello
Just heading to the range to sight in my Ravens BUIS and wondering what’s the recommended distance?
I’m going to zero my 1x6 scope at 100 yards.

Thanks

Realistically and practically 50m is probably the most 95% of the population can use run of the mill iron sight with carbine sight radius shooting at at IPSC target. As long as it hits the A zone I am happy . And that's what I do and I won't spend a lot of ammo on it either.

I have no idea about my ballistic curve (Kodiak WK181, 7.62x39 surplus ammo) but I did the same, my MBUS are zeroed at 50 yards and my 1-6x LVPO is zeroed at 100 yards.

Tried zeroing at 50 meters and was shooting about 5 inches right, I maxed out my windage adjustment and managed to get it 3 inches right.
That’s as far as I can move the rear sight.

Difficult to tell it could be the front sight is canted - which is the common issue with barrel mounted FSB when the FSB tower is canted. With Rail installed BUIS, it could be the sight or the rail it is mounted on.

Is your handguard twisted a bit? Does the upper pic rail line up perfectly with the rail on the receiver?

I’ll take a closer look later tonight.
This was a 10 rd group I shot after I got it zeroed with the 1x6

A twisted handguard wouldn't effect the precision of your rifle (or zeroing your primary optic) it would just introduce cant between your front and rear iron sights which could explain why you're running out of windage adjustment when trying to zero.

Oh and nice group, she's a shooter!

Depends. I've got adjustable KAC BUIS that are zeroed for 100m and have a 50m peep on top. If I'm using a fixed sight, I'll set it to 50m and 200m.

50 is best. The bullet is still arcing up at 50. You'll be about 1" high at 100 and close to even at 200.

What I haven't figured out yet is the best front sight spacing on the rail for magpul pro LR sights so that the bullet hits with the distance adjustments. 223 and 6.5cm would be my interest

When I took a carbine course many years ago, the instructor taught us the zero method used by Paul Howe. 3" high at 100 y.
