My brother just gave me a lee that he got from I think SIR back in the 80s.
It is marked as a 1949 No4 mk 1 with a F in a open box shape.I was wondering where it came from? The only other markings I can find are sussex on barrel and british proof marks plus a crown and bnp or bnb.what do I have?

"...British proof marks plus a crown and bnp or bnb..." It's BNP. All those marks indicate the rifle was sold as surplus through England. Proofing was required by law.
The only letter in a box I'm seeing is an 'S' for Savage. It's not. No 1949 Savage made No. 4 Rifles. Where on the rifle is it?
I've seen the 'Sussex' explained some place. Forget where though. I think it's a commercial rebarreling.
What's stamped under the bolt handle?
Rummage around here. http://enfieldrifles.profusehost.net/main.htm
