What Do I Need To Own An AR?

I`m curious if it`s possible for someone to get a permit to own an AR. I`ve been told that if I don`t already have the right class restricted permit than I can never own one.Thanks

You will need a PAL with an endorsement for restricted firearms. The transfer will have to be approved by the Chief Firearms Officer for your jurisdiction.

You were told wrong, at least for restricted guns like an AR. As above, you can still get a restricted license; just pass the test and get your application in. Prohibited guns (like a full auto) are another story, likely you (or the person who told you) are confusing the two.

It might and it might not. You'll either get a made in Canada improved AR18 based rifle or you'll get a completely new non-restricted Canadian made black rifle.

What do you need??? $$$ and lots of it! When you get one, they tend to multiply! Plus you gotta feed those things!

Seriously, you just need your Restricted PAL as stated and a gun club membership since that's the only place you can legally shoot it and like any restricted firearm, they won't do a transfer without one even if you just want to admire one in the safe.

And then you need money.
