What do I need to scope a 597?

That's what I thought he was referring to... it isn't expensive and certainly better than dovetail rail on it... unless you're using a little rimfire scope or something.

I have the VQ rail on mine. Top-drawer quality and precision machining that fits the contours of the 597's receiver like a glove. Plenty of rise to clear the front bell of a medium to large sized scope.

yes, go with the weaver or VQ rail. You won't be sorry. For the extra couple of bucks it is well worth it, if you ever want to change the type or hight of rings all you have to do is use regular rings....no worry about trying to find the proper dovetail rings, etc.
I have one on mine and would do the same thing again if I were to buy another 597.
