Is wanting to be a member of CGN really only for the buy and sell frowned upon? Would this make me sub par, non beneficial or non community productive member? I understand CGN offers far more then just the buy and sell, and is a great way for like minded people to connect and share information, but In all honesty, I'm really only here for one reason. I don't see anything wrong with only being interested in being active with those in the buy and sell. But it seems like to even to get approval to the buy and sell, I need to prove the buy and sell is not my only interest. Maybe I'm mistaken. Maybe my intentions of using this forum are not very different from most, or maybe that just means I don't really cut it with being what a good CGN member should be? What are others thoughts? Is using the CGN platform pretty well only to connect with sellers of used firearms just not cool?

Granted, I may at times wish to use the site further then the buy and sell. But to say my intentions are anything other then what they are is just silly. Especially if it means trying to falsify my interest and engagement on this forum just to gain access to the privileged areas.

If you only want to be here for buy and sell and you don't want to contribute to the forum. Pay 28$ and get a team membership.

If you don't want to pay 28$, go thru the hoops.

There is such a wealth of information to be had, though. You'll see. Be it reviews of a something you considered buying, or good/bad ammo, or storage, or legalese...endless resources.

Is the firearm exchange not part of the forum? Wouldn't being active in that forum sub category, mean I would be contributing to the forum? That was sort of what I was asking. Is that the general consense that only using the forum to buy and sell means "you don't contribute to the forum"? Pay 28 bucks so I can contribute to the forum?

Sure, I don't care what others think. Either we are stand up or were not. And no restrictions to access forums is going to make any difference as to how people conduct themselves there. but I guess I'll go through the hoops. Pretend and in reality be dishonest that I want to 'contribute'. And not just be here for the real reason I'm here. I guess I do need to care about at least what one person thinks. There's even a sticky on it. Think it's called. Bettering your chances of gain access to equipment exchange or something like that.

Ya I completely agree there is a great deal of information and knowledge to be had here. I even admitted that I may at times take advantage of these things.

Maybe you're making it too complicated?

If you have an interest in guns and the privilege of owning / using them it'll be very hard not to pipe up now and again when there's something that you feel strongly about.

And depending on your level of experience someone / someday will ask a question that you feel you can help with - so weigh in!

Enjoy the forum, you're in good company.

I would not worry about it. I believe that EE posts do not count towards your post count, and thus I know of a few people on here who have a lot of EE trader ratings and almost zero post count. I bought an item from a member on CGN who had, if I remember correctly, a 7 post count and a 57 trader rating at the time

I wouldn't worry too much about it either if I were you. Buying a membership does help especially if your only in it to buy, sell and trade. You get more frequent bumps of your listings and you can upload pics directly from your computer with the membership as well. I also think you will end up contributing/posting more than you think too and there is a ton of good info and knowledge on this site. Finally I think as a firearm site and a great place to buy, sell and trade its only natural to have a high or decent trader rating even if you don't post that much. I'd way rather that then the people with huge post counts and no trader rating , makes you think they only come on here to run their mouths and don't even own, buy, sell or trade in firearms or accessories. After all this is a gunnutz place right , I enjoy the site for both info and trading and find it pretty well rounded. Like I said I don't think anyone will judge you and you shouldn't worry but you may end up posting more than you think.
