I've got a spare Lee Enfield aiming tripod - apparently used to train new recruits or cadets how to properly aim rifles. It has a fine elevation adjustment, and a release to loosen the metal frame for windage. The wood is Canadian marked (see photos) and the front spring clamp is missing the leather. Otherwise, it is in good shape. I am running out of space, and was thinking about selling this one. What should I ask for it?

I must admit, they look pretty cool with a rifle in them! They are also handy for hanging stuff off of:

This is what I am currently using the other one for.

Any idea on values or other information about these tripods would be appreciated. Thanks.

Prices vary quite a bit it seems. I know some folks still think they are a 50$ item, though I have seen them go for almost 300$. I tried to pick one up, and stopped bidding at 200$s.

There never was a leather cover on the front clamps...at least not on any of the dozens I've had over the years. I sewed up a couple of dozen of the little leather covers because, unlike the military, I do care about not scratching my forestock.
Yours is nice because it is one of the unmodified ones. Most of these had an extension welded in to the back section to accommdate the FNC1. Yours also shows a slight bit of damage from having the tripods stacked onto one another...I have seen some that have a small steel patch on each of the 3 legs where the screws from the next one dig in.
They are still reasonably common out this way...there are still some in outdoor storeage at the local mil scrapyard. I maight have one or two of these to get rid of later myself.
I find that prices on these range from $50 to $150. They are a PItA to ship.

I found one of these aiming tripods at the local dump about a year ago,it is probably the one kicking around our cadet lock up back in the 60's.The elevation adjusting mechanism is broken and i am looking for a replacement.PM me if you know where i can get one, thanks

Got one

Found mine for $40.00 from a friend.
I thought this would make a nifty bore-sighting setup to do first zero on a scope at the range before shooting first group.
First, get the bolt off the rifle, sight through the barrel to center the target at 50 meters then look through the scope and turn the controls to get the reticle to coincide with the bullseye.
Remember: if you need to go to the left, turn the dial for the right. Need to go up? turn the elevation knob down.
Once done, you can proceed to the actual shooting at 100 meters.
These tripods and their adjustment are very precise and ridgid and it makes for a really steady adjustable rest.
Sure saves a lot of ammo!

Anyone in the Sherbrooke, Quebec area need one I have three. Fully assembled, must be picked-up in person, to much of a pain to ship. $75.00 each.
