What do u think of this gun?

I heard from some old vets who have btdt, that thats the gun that killed Hitler and wounded Che Guevera. Cant go wrong with that kind of history. Get 2 and bask in pride.

Actually for the price, I might just pick one up.

ps jtf2, please use full words ie. u = you You will get alot less flack from everyone.

Is there any clear evidence that quality control is questionable, or is it all based on the one review. I think we should wait until more information comes in before condemning the gun as crap.

the review seemed pretty unbiased to me.
why would someone subject themselves to the annoyance/hassle of having to return a gun for no reason but to bash something that most people will already think is of questionable quality anyway. not to mention a review such as the one Mangil posted takes a significant amount of time and effort.

i place much more faith in a review such as that than i do in any review in a gun mag or by a retailer -- they generally have other motivations such as not biting the hand that feeds them. in fact i dont recall ever reading a negative review of any firearm by a major manufacturer in any gun rag.

Alright. I will write my review in this thread, as well as the other thread http://www.canadiangunnutz.com/forum/showthread.php?t=261958&page=4

I purchased my Tomahawk 2800 pump action shotgun on May 13th. Add in shipping time (don't have that tracking number handy right now) so lets say I received it by the 20th. I took the shotgun out, inspected it, attempted to remove the hunting plug that it said it came with... except there was no hunting plug. Which really didn't bother me.

It was also a bit of a PITA for me and a friend to put it back together (we think shoddily fit together parts), but we got it. Started putting rounds through it, they were the cheapest I could find, 2 3/4 birdshot.

Ok, before I go on. I didn't even get through one box of 25 shells, there were.. like 3 or 4 remaining, and I had given a few of those to said friend. So I probably shot 18 or 19 shells through the gun in total.

First magazine: worked great.

Second magazine: the pump action, if pulled with a normal pump action pull, would stick brutally hard in the full rearward position. So I was gentle on it.

Third magazine: it became a single shot. I don't know what the correct term for this piece is, but the spring loaded piece that pivots to lock the shells in the magazine stopped functioning.

In review: Less than 20 light firing loads resulted in 2 critical failures.

Now, onto the "Ironclad Guarantee" I shipped the shotgun back to them, after calling them and asking them what appropriate procedure was. I shipped it on May 27th. It arrived June 3rd. Signed marstar.

I waited between a week and two weeks, called them, asked them what the deal was, said they would get someone to call me back. Ok, no problem.

That happened about 3 or 4 times. No one called me back. Ever.

They did confirm every time that it was there, and that I was going to be getting my refund.

So this brings us to about July. As I had not gotten a refund yet, I called them, talked with someone, got transfered, said the shotgun was there, what I wanted to do, exchange, refund, etc. I said I want a refund. He said ok, and that they would get on it.

Waited 3 more weeks. Nothing. Called them again. Same song and dance.

Called early August, same thing again.

Called last Friday, was told the person who does returns isn't there. Will be back on Monday.

In review, they've had my money since May 13th. I had a working shotgun for less than an hour. I sent them the shotgun back, which they received June 3rd.

They have had my money for 3 months, 10 days.
They have had the shotgun for 2 months 20 days.

You want to know what I got out of the deal??? The bill to ship that piece of #### back to them. Unbelievable that they are a site sponsor, with an "ironclad guarantee".

They don't awknowledge problems. That way they just go away.

I had purchased what was advertised as a

"solid walnut M1 Paratrooper folding stock. This is not one of the cheap whitewood asian knock offs"

This was an expense stock but since it was solid walnut it was worth it so I ordered it. It was for a 10/22 conversion so when I starting inletting it for the Ruger I noticed how easily it cut. Thats when I had a close look and found it to be a whitewood asian knock off that had a walnut stain washed on to it. The pistol grip was the only walnut on that stock. I don't know wood all that well but my buddy is a furniture maker and he verified what I had found.

I Emailed Marstar with a very polite request for their thoughts on this. No reply. Called. They would look into my emails. 10 more emails sent. Nothing. Called again. They would look into it. This went on for 4 months. I gave up.

It sounds exactly like the same scenario ENIGMATIC1 is going through.

I figure that doing business like that will catch up to them sooner or later and with a recession possibly around the corner, companies like this can get hurt pretty bad. The thing is I wasn't angry, I just wanted know if there was a mix up and to let them know what had happened. But when I was ignored for months on end I just decided not to deal with them any more.

Besides, most of whats on their web site is "out of stock" anyway.

Can any members here vouch for this company and their iron clad guarantee? I hear you guys about the problems, it seems most customer service is crap these days from any company that will not have to meet you face to face. Can we find any stories of people having a great return?
Where are the company reps that reply to our emails to purchase, and should be commenting on these threads and explaining to you and I what went on in this situation to ease our minds that their company may be shady?
The site admin here should let Marstar know they need to address this situation.

I've had good service from SIR, Elwood Epps (outstanding), and Higginson's. There are other good ones.

Marstar is well aware of the problems and reads this website; does not give a faint fart.

Hard to believe one of the fine sponsors of this site would treat some one like this. Also hard to believe any one would sell a piece of crap like this to any one.
This is not a case of "you get what you pay for"

Is this the bash marstar thread?
I and many others on this site dealt with marstar and received nothing but top notch service.
Although I suppose it's possible for things to go wrong once in a while, some of you make it sound like marstar is ripping people off. Well, they are not. If you have a problem, talk to them. PM Johnone, he is a member here.
