Just wondering if anyone found a cool or creative use for the surplus wood ammo cases?

Other than storing empty stripper clips in them...

I give them to my buddies. They get a real kick out of having an emty ammo crate, and it gives them a good conversation piece. I have no use for them, not enough room in the basement.

i go to the lcbo and they have old wine boxes and they are nice wood boxes. i throw some cheap dollar hinges on them and i use them to store ammo, and gun powder in. i know its not ammo crates but they are already in use for ammo. also the lcbo wine boxes come in different sizes and they look really good

When I run out of 7.62x39 in my first crate, I'm going to repaint it to look like an American Ammo can. Right now the space that isn't filled with 7.62x39 has all my other ammo and empty brass in it.

After I brought my last case of 7.62x39 in the old wood case, my wife looked and me and said, "why does Roger (roger being my dealer from shooters choice in arrowwood alberta), always put your ammo in that military case?"

I almost drop the case on my foot laughing, i looked at her and explained, but i got a good laugh out of it.
