Would like to know what you guys with hounds feed them.I feed mine beef and tripe and about a month before the hunt starts I ween them onto milk replacer to give them that extra help keeping wait on during the hunt.Good hounds will run themselves ragad till they cant run anymore so it's very important to keep the wait and strength up in them as well as making sure they are in good running condition.
How often do you run your hounds before the hunt or are they on a chain or in a pen from one hunt year to the next hunt year.I start running my hounds in late spring till about 3 weeks before the hunt.The wife gets pissed that every weekend I'm gone at least one night with the hounds but it pays off when the push comes at deer hunting time.
