What do you gun nutz guys think about using the 7mm-08 for long range? What do you think the barrel life would be like? Do you guys think the 7mm-08 will handle the 168 or 180gr. Bereger VLD's? What length of barrel would you use? 24/26? What twist rate would you guys go with? Thanks guys for your input. Have fun and straight shoot'in!

It will work but a pretty small case for the heavies. 162/168 would be my limit.

9 twist, throat long. 26" min, 28 or 30" will help with speed.

The 284 win has been used ALOT in F class with a proven track record. Enough case capacity to get the job done nicely.

Also consider the 260Rem, reg and improved.

Best would be the 6BR for a LR plinker.

Another and my favorite is the 223 with a fast twist.

Hi...what are you using if for plinking, competition, hunting? .260 rem and AI'd versions have been very popular for long range tactical type matches. With the addition of lapua brass, make sit even more attractive. Lots of bullet choices as well.

I am using 26" with a 9" twist.

Muzzle velocity of 2625 ft/sec with 168 SMK's,42 grains of H4350 OAL of 2.785", Lapua brass(from 308 win)I did get some velocities over 2700 ft/sec but started to loose accuracy.

As for barrel life I believe it would be quite good.

If all goes well with my practice this summer I am going to consider competition with this chambering next year.

Are you at least practiced up enough for the 7mm versus .338 moneyshoot?
