What do you know about Savage Edge

Been offered a Savage Edge XP in .223 with a Banner 3-9X40 as a trade, is it a good truck gun with future potential or a hunk of junk?

Ive shot a couple. They shoot great. Not bad at all for the $$$

the way the magazines detach from the rifle is a joke. A plastic tab. Just a matter of time before it breaks and you'll have to buy a new mag. Trigger is garbage but what can you expect on a $300 rifle? Action seems smooth enough but who knows if it will be reliable in feeding and extracting?

I think a guy would be MUCH better off buying a used Remington, Ruger or Winchester for $400-500

not a fan of the way they did the recoil lug on this model. kind of like the tikka T3
