What do you know about these bases & rings?

Anyone have any insight into these bases & rings?

They came on a new rifle that I purchased and I have no idea how good they are... The rifle will be used for target shooting, so I want rings that are going to hold tight and true and not loose their zero.

I'm not a fan of the way that the back base hangs out over the receiver so far and so low...

Would I be better off to remove them and get a one piece base and good rings? If so, where does one buy a good one piece base for a Savage Model 12?

I'd upgrade, but that's just me. They look like cheap Leupold or Burris?

Everywhere will have a base for a common Savage model.

I've been somewhat looking for a 12 LRP 6.5 CM... Do they not come to canada?
 
The picture works now..As for me, I would definately get a good one piece that moves the ring back. This way it wont block the bolt and you'll get a tiny bit more distance between your rings for a more secure scope.
 
I'm sure they're fairly readily available for the 12, I was searching for a model 14 and found a couple options (that I was told would fit 12,16 as well). The one piece bases that I located were around $150. Grouse River Outfitters had them however I chose a different route and I don't deal with those guys!!!
 
Stick with a quality manufacture.

No point in getting a good set-up to only have the difficulties of finding faults down the road. Quality parts last forever and work forever.

TPS is probably the best bang for the buck, but in Canada it forces you into a similar cost as ATRS, Nightforce, etc. NEAR and Ken's can be a bit more money.

I'd do Ferrell, but personal opinion would be stay away from Burris. I do not have experience with Burris though.

Hirsch Precision has Ferrel items are what appear good prices. Peter's very helpful.

you are going to have a hard time finding better rings than Burris Signature "ZEE" rings. But you have to use them to understand why ... and how.... they are better (much better!) than most other rings.
 
I could never appreciate rings and mounts encroaching the receiver opening.

You might be more appreciative if you have a short scope as measured between the bells like a Zeiss Diavari-C 3-9x,36 .. that you want to use. Under those circumstances eye relief might dictate this setup .. or a one piece base ... which encroaches on the receiver opening even more.

Depends on the base... I'm looking at getting the Farrell base from Mystic and by the looks of it, it will actually encroach on the receiver a lot less than this current set-up because it is a higher base with a concave section above the receiver for additional clearance.
