Hey all. Benelli M4.
What do you guys use for buckshot? What do you find patterns best at longer ranges? (40-50 yards)
I have some of that cheapo S&B buckshot. Anybody have experience with that through a similar setup? Anybody know what sort of maximum effective range (atleast 6 pellets on a 12” target) should be expected with a cheapo 00 buck shell? (no flite control, no fancy wad)
General ammunition discussion for M4s welcome.
 
If you want to be effective at 40-50 yds+ you need to go to rifled slug.

If you insist on buckshot you are going to need to tighten the choke & be satisfied with the results.

Yeah, there's a reason shotguns were known as 'scatterguns' in the days of the wild west. To get optimum patterning out of one, I don't know of another way than to experiment with different chokes and ammo- but you can't expect miracles.
