I am presently looking to buy a Marlin Model 336Y in 30-30 caliber with a 16.5 inch barrel. I love its '' Bulky'' look, but I dont know much about that rifle.

Can anyone tell me how good it is and how much you like yours ?

i own a marlin 336, love the action, smooth like glass.
looks great. wood is sturdy and looks great.
shoot very accurately up to at least 400yrds.( hit a plate a that distance)
has a nice kick to it but not too much both burly men and smaller statured women loved to shoot it.
ammo is not too expensive either.
didn`t really notice a difference between 150 and 170 grain but its up to your preference.
also great in the way its built so you can take the bolt out easily and cleaning it just like a rifle( super easy to take apart, clean and put back together)

overall an amazing lever action that i wouldn`t trade for the world ^_^

I bought a 336Y in late 2012 it is a Remlin built gun but with an hour of polishing and cleaning up some rough spots in the inner works its as smooth and reliable as any other Marlin I have owned, I bought and fitted a full size walnut stock and mounted a Leupold 1-4x and it shoots five 170 Hornady RN's into about 1.5 inches at 100. All in all they are a very handi compact rifle.
