Hi Guys,

Went to the edmonton gun show today. I have gone to a number of them in the past, but never bought anything more substantial than a magazine.

Today, however, was different.

I picked up a BRNO model 2. Dated 1969 on the barrel and receiver, which I don't understand. I thought the original model 2's were done production by 1957. Then, the 2E's were made in the 80's and early 90's, giving rise to the CZ 452 Lux. The barrel says BRNO mod 2.

In any case, the gun appears to be either unused, or used so lightly that I can't tell the difference. Stock is the hogback arrangement with typical sights. Stock is an odd sort of brown/grey colour - not sure what sort of wood.

In any case, grand total was $450 including tax.

So - good deal or bad? Any thoughts on the date of manufacture?

;)

no 10/22, no care........

LOL just playin. Good find. I dunno much about BRNOs so I can't help ya. Lookin forward to some pics though.

Does your Brno #2 have an 11mm dovetail instead of the 16mm dovetail the Brno #1-5's have? If your gun hasn't been reproofed your gun was put together by CZ with a combination of CZ and Brno parts when rimfire and centerfires were switched from Brno over to CZ Brod. Kind of a CZ/Brno/#2 clone. It looks like some of the #5's were done that way too. Next to follow would be the Brno 2E which was actually made by CZ.

If you're not there already I strongly recommend going to the CZ forum over at rimfire central. There's a wealth of info there!!!

Don't know anything about model history or any of that but I do know that nearly any BRNO or CZ is one heck of a good gun.

I'd say its a good find and one that you should be able to enjoy immensely! A bit of history as well as a good shooter. Hope you can find out a little more about it.

Try looking under the CZ forum here http://rimfirecentral.com/ for info too. Some real BRNO experts!

Now regarding price, most Brno rimfires in VG or better condition usually seem to sell between $350-$500 so what you paid for it was not unreasonable. And if it's a Brno or a CZ it most likely will be a tack driver. ;)

fbf

You could have one like my #2 (see pic) Its a #2 with a 2E stock(2nd top)
The sights have been prof. removed and barrel shortened and restocked. Most of the hump has been removed. As K98 said what dovetail will tell the tail. This one is 16mm and made in 56. The one below(#3) was made in 76 and had 3/8 dovetail. Don't take all you hear on RFC for gosple they'res likely more brno in Canada than the US and so much info that is as yet un founded. Sure like to see a pic of it----Cowboy

PS top to bottom #1, #2, #2,452 american and 452 american 17 HMR

Yeah, it can be somewhat confusing and contradictory at times. For example someone says it's not a Brno rimfire if it doesn't have 16mm dovetails. But another person says yes it is if it has the Brno trademark on it.
