Im thinking of buying one of those marstar sKS`s for 75 with purchase of ammo, and was wondering what you guys thought of it or if you bought one. I know you get what you pay for but for 75 bucks im really not expecting a gem just want to see if anyone else got one im putting my order in tomorrow

If you have to buy ammo, getting an new unissued SKS for $75 extra is a steal of a deal. Since I have enough ammo, I wish I could buy just the rifle for $75, or even $125.

From what I've read, as I don't have the $75 sks yet. It's a Chinese Millitary (refurb?); not one of lesser quality commercial units that Norinco was pushing out.

I'm not sure what the difference between the military and the commercial version is at the moment, but I've read on this board and sks specific forums, that the commercial version is lesser quality.

I have one, I didn't buy it as the $75 package deal, but its a good rifle, and as good as any other SKS. As a collector, one might have less desire for them compared to Russian and Yugo vintage SKS rifles, but as a shooter, and said above, for 75 bucks you get an unissued rifle ( read brand new in the box) with the ammo you were going to shoot anyway. You can buy an unissued rifle for $200 if it makes you feel any better.

Shipping with Canada Post, cost about 25 bucks to send a rifle anywhere in Canada. Shipping the ammunition (explosives) is another story, and is not shipped with the firearm.

The $75 SKS is a great deal! The ammo is a good deal for the price, and you are in Toronto, so the shipping won't break the bank- figure $40 or so.

I bought one of them, but with the M-305, not the ammo and it is just fine. I would say that the machining is the equal of the Russian guns, except for a blade bayo, milled trigger guard and it is original, non-issued. That means all numbers match, it's not a mix-master of refurbed parts and it is new.
What's not to like? Plus if you don't like it Steiner will pay you $125 for it!

I picked one up not expecting much, but was very impressed with the rifle when it arrived. Very well made with nice blueing, and new, unissued as described. Well worth the full price, and an absolute steal at $75.

Shipping may still be pricey. When I bought just an SKS by itself from Marstar the shipping was almost 50 bucks to Alberta. You have to remember they need to pay their employees to handle the order so you pay more than just the shipping rate.

There would be no real difference between a $75 SKS and a $200 SKS, there are so many of them (and still being made by Norinco) that they're pretty much the same.. the reason the seller got them so cheap is because they probably bought like 5,000 of them and got them for dollars a piece.

Plus for $75 for an amazing tried and tested (70+ years) semi automatic 10 round battle proven bug out rifle, it's literally the best $75 you can spend for your bug out gear/bag

I don't think that anyone has made new SKS rifles for a long time. The ones from Marstar were made in the 1960's and had been in storage.

Tradeex

Take a look at the Tradeex site, a russianbirch stock refurb in real nice shape and a thousand rounds of ammo ,,free delivery !!! $ 369.00 .Now that is a deal !! I believe for $20. more you can have a laminate stock if you so choose! WOW!!

I think John buys a couple more than that at a time...These rifles are not Norinco, they were made by factories around China for the PLA, Norinco kept mfr'ing SKS's for the civilian market until the mid 2000's that I know of (I had an '02) These are the same rifles Marstar sells for $189, they just give a good deal when you buy one with a crate of ammo.

For me, this is not such a good deal when you add up all the costs ...
You can probably find a sks and a case of ammunition, both for less than $ 400 in a store near you.
