I was tinkering in the gun room and put this together...

I dont have any open sights for it but think it looks better without a scope.

There is a barrel in there, an 8" Dlask. I think a 12" barrel, open sights with black mags would look better.
So what do you guys think?

*Note - I'm just looking for some 'constructive criticism' and ideas for this stock! Thanks in advance!*

Looks good... Kinda like what I want to do, but in a different stock. Only question is: Is it 26" OAL? My stock is just over the limit with a rubber recoil pad installed... I think a 10" barrel would protrude just past the stock, but I may go with a 12-1/2" too. From what I recall reading, the 12-1/2" seems to be a reasonably short barrel without giving up too much accuracy, and I doubt it'd be any better for me to have it 2" shorter in the front...

At least your stock looks low enough to actually use the iron sights on the barrel (if you had them)... I was hoping to use my iron sights until I could afford some better optics, but once my stock arrived I realized my eyes would be way too high for that, so I have to get some AR-style sights and a rail to even be able to shoot it.

Ryan: I like the SS on black look of yours... That's the same thing I'm doing. It's kinda killing me though... I'm waiting on a decent SS 10/22 to show up, but none of the stores have them yet, and most of the ones on the EE are blued.

Its just over 27 inches with the stock all the way in. I'm not sure if I like the muzzle inside the end of the stock, but I don't want to cut it down. I'd rather *sigh* buy a barrel to fit it and build another one!

Unstableryan's next post looks good. I'd like to do something like that but weld the folder and trim it for an 8" barrel.

You could probably just bolt the folding mechanism so it wouldn't fold anymore... But yeah, I'd suggest you find another barrel. Maybe a Charger barrel, if you could find one...

I haven't shot it, and not sure if there is enough of a flash to burn/damage the stock. Just trying it on for size. These darn 10/22's and all the after market stuff is kinda like LEGO for grown ups!

wow you can really see the difference in the stainless rugers over the years.
mine is from the early 90's and im assuming yours is a newer one.
mine actually has a shine to it while yours looks ruff to the touch.

You know I'm on the hunt for an SS 10/22... Since you have so many fantastic Rugers, I'd be happy to take this one off your hands so you can make more room in the safe... :D

Seriously, I really want to find a decent older SS 10/22 for my build...

First thing that comes to mind is, "Where's the beef?"

I guess i'm partial to seeing my barrels. Maybe it's me... but it seems like this whole super short barrel craze is getting a bit nutz.
