This rifle belongs to a friend and I'm wondering what everyone thinks of the aesthetics. Leave the pad out of it, I'm more concerned with the brown stock, blued action, and stainless barrel together. I'm having a rifle built that will have the same stock, action, similar bottom metal, and the same barrel contour and am trying to decide on chrome moly or stainless steel for the barrel.

That's a workin gun. If it shoots well I wouldn't worry about the barrel, action and wood stock. The recoil pad doesn't help it any though.

If I saw that gun in the field or at the range, I'd wonder what's up. Did he shoot out the old barrel? Does it do 1/2" MOA? Is it some crazy ass wildcat? Not every gun needs to be a work of art.

If I was way back in the hills and met up with a fellow hunter carrying that rifle I could see us sitting down for a smoke and having a 30 minute or better conversation about rifles.

When I meet up with someone packing a 110 Savage with a plastic stock I generally turn the conversation to weather conditions....

Isn't that the truth!

1. How does it shoot?

2. If it shoots, I could "live with it" the way it is.

3. I like it better in the pic with the barrel blackened to match the action.

4. That and a nice black recoil pad & you've got one handsome rifle there.

Well that would be a boring discussion - talking about rifles. yawn

Looks okay, but I've never been a fan of brown synthetic stocks. It just looks like somebody bought a synthetic and then tried to make it look like a wood stock by painting it brown, but failed.

Brown synth stocks do look decent with SS metal, though IMO.

Run with it the way it is, minus the red pad. Looks cool to me, and if it shoots better yet. I have a Thompson center and am a fan of stainless and blued together.

With the way the bolt is, it puts the gun on the 'right' side of the shooter.

just a thought that has rolled around in my head for a while... can a action be painted to look stainless? thus making my blued savage with ss pipe on it match a little better

Could have said it better myself.:D
