Well!! i know this isn't a milsurp but it's my attempt at creating one that i will probably never obtain. The 1895 muskets are a rarety and when they are found they command a hefty price tag so i've opted to go this route to get as close as i can to one. I will be using US Krag barrel bands and rear sight to complete this as original parts are unobtanium, especially up here in Canada. The nice thing is i won't be messing with an already classic rifle as the rifle can be turned back to its original form at any time, except for the rear sight but a period correct krag sight isn't uncommon. It is just in the early stages and i have a lot of work to do yet as you can tell, i just put the wood without inletting or sanding on for the pics but i think it will turn out nice when i'm done. I will update this post with my progress.

7.62X54R would be nice, 30-40 would be inline with the muskets too but being that it's in .303 suits me fine since Enfields are mainly what's in my collection.

The metal is in very good shape, not much finish left though, hints of patina here and there. The bore is in good shape, dark bore but lots of strong rifling left with no pitting. She shoots quite well, not a tack driver by any means but that's ok, 5 rounds in a 4.5 inch group at 100 yards is good enough for me to play with. I'm just happy I hit paper :)
