So all the info I'm getting online seems to be out of the US where you can still buy every chemical you could want at Walmart or home depot. Up here the Nancies have banned everything it seems for the average citizen to buy.

All the US sources list either a hydrogen peroxide paste or boiling in a 35-40% hydrogen peroxide bath.

Can't find that up here at all other than from big time suppliers that want huge $ to ship.

Is there anything readily available up here that won't yellow and destroy a skull and can bleach it in a day or two?

Thanks gents.

unfortunately the canadian government has just yanked the sale of a pile of chemical products normally readily availlable to the consumer..... hydrogen peroxide products being one of them.
Not sure if it's temporary or not but many industries are affected canada wide.

but.... the last time i did a euro at home, my taxidermist told me to buy the 35% hydrogen peroxide sold at the hydroponic garden stores..... same stuff but they will probably be affected by the new regulations too so get it while you can. It's liquid but can be applied to a bath just the same .... be very careful it's corrosive like crazy on skin....

Taxidermy supply house............ mix 35% strength peroxide with magnesium carbonate powder to a pancake batter consistency and paint it on the deer skull that has been pre-soaked in H2O.Wear rubber gloves/ facemask and don't breath in the powder or fumes. Plastic bags over the horns /electrical taped at the bases prevent removing the natural horn color.leave this on for about 3 days then rinse off with water wearing protective gear again as this with burn and or blind you if careless.Sit it somewhere to dry before touching with bare hands.I've done many European skull mounts and bear, coyote, fox and wolf skulls. The skulls are first boiled for about an hour in H2O and soda ash to de-grease and remove meat, then use a high pressure washer blows off loose meat. Lastly the peroxide treatment.I'm doing a 6x6 WT as we speak.Harold
PS ..........don't boil the peroxide it goes on last cold mixed as a paste applied with a paint brush to the skull

We use hydrogen peroxide in bulk for treating drinking water on our poultry farm. It is used instead of chlorine and for the same purpose. Works great for whitening bone. Industrial chemical supply companies carry it.

hair salon might not sell it to you without a license to sell it to the public.
trust me.... 35% H202 is readily availlable on the shelf at hydroponic stores.... it's where i have purchased it both times I've used it. Heck they even had 5 gallon pails of the stuff. The magnesium carbonate you gotta hit up a taxidermist or supply shop for and can get it thru the mail.

Yes license issue comes up...just tell them its for a skull! No problem at Salleys here in Winnipeg...

Salon supply stores around me don’t carry the liquid any more - they told me salons pretty much only use the paste these days.

I just buy dollar store peroxide. $10 worth was more than enough to submerge my bear skull to whiten it and it turned out perfectly.

I just whitened my 2017 Whitetail skull.

I bought 35% Peroxide at a health food store in Winnipeg.

Boiled for about 15 mins. with 500ml Peroxide and a few litres of water. Rinsed and dried at room temp.

Turned out beautifully.

Most places require two pieces of photo ID and payment by debit or credit card...Seems the Meth heads use peroxide to make their poison.

35% hydrogen peroxide @ at any hydroponic store and some nurseries they use it to kill bacteria in water Soda ash= use Arm & Hammer So Clean Supper Washing Soda , Magnesium Carbonate = Gym /Climbing Chalk @ mountaineering stores Simmer skulls in water and soda ash to loosen meat a power washer to remove meat once cooked helps for final clean up, Then mix 35% peroxide with Chalk into thin paste and paint onto all areas of skulls, allow to dry 24 hours and brush off ! Have done many this way. Also be warned about some people saying to use peroxide and water and boil it works but any Iron pots or utensils used can cause a chemical reaction that can be vary Dangerous!

Go to your local hair and beauty supply store. Ask for V40 developer, I picked a bottle up at Sally’s beauty in Edmonton a couple weeks ago. Was 15 bucks or so

hydroponic shops have 29%, strongest avail to public in canada, without a license. use to be ok for 35%, rules changes few years ago up here
