What does one look for when purchasing night vision?

Gen2/Gen3 is the way to go. Combloc stuff is kind of the way to go. The US won't give you an export permit for any Gen2/Gen4 stuff. Even Gen 1 needs a permit. They don't trust us in Canada....might give/sell to an enemy of the "state".
I bought Combloc Gen 2 scopes for SKS and they work fine. Scopes will go on anything, but since they are Combloc and SKS shells are cheap, its a good combination.
I have the Gen2/3 ANPVS4's and the Combloc stuff works almost as good considering the difference in price. Had to get US State Dept permits, when they were giving them to buy them though.

Any tips on where to get the good Combloc stuff? :)

Kremlin optics

Try Kremlin optics, they are based in Ont, but don't expect cheap Decent Gen 1+ rifle scopes go for about 600.00, Gen 2+ for 2000.00 up. From there up it just gets silly. Prices are pretty comparable to the US stuff.

huh, it's starting to look like Nightvision, if you want decent picture, will cost as much as a precision rifle!

I saw some in the us, Gen 2+ for 1100$, but of course, no export. The only way would be to ship to a relative and then drive back with it....which is smuggling, illegal, and not worth the risk at all.

*** oo la la my 500th post! **** haha

As a matter of fact, that very thing has already happened. I can't remember which book I read on the Afghan war that mentioned NV taken off dead jihadis was traced back to the states via Canada...

Yep there still is a big problem of that stuff happen. Even with the ITAR rules. Actually alot of them have better NV then our guy's.
EastWave dot CA if you want to check out some Russian made optic's and bino's. The company that they retail is called Yukon. Not bad not great. AVN has some good product's but only in there top line. If you really want high end great stuff PM me and I'll point ya in the right direction.

i have an aimpoint comp m4 and aimpoint 3x mag. would i be able to mount the flir on my rail in conjunction with the 3x fts and have a ###y fts 3x heat vision sight for clearing my apt of zombies at night?
would the mag have to go before or after the flir? is the flir optical, or are you viewing a lcd/screen ?

No, they are monocular handheld only.
A weapon mounted thermal vision system is not available to civilians in Canada, but there is a nice weapon mount NV setup for $2995.00 at wolverine supplies. It's made by ATN and is 2.5 generation and they have 1 left. You mount it ahead of the optic on the front rail, very cool and legal.

i have a mill, how hard would it be to make a mount for it, not hard i would wager. no idea on the cost though for the flir. but still, infront of or behind the 3x ? :p
