Well finally I have found my next rifle, an Israeli mauser in 7.62 Nato.

I've done lots of reading and find that people both approve and disapprove of the .308 win being shot down one of these.

I reload, so I will be making my own for this one, but I am going to probably get a box or two of factory ammo to hold me over till I get dies and brass ect.

I'm wondering what you feed yours?

Factory 308 win?

Surplus Nato?

Handloads?

If handloads, do you keep to the low end of the 308 loads?

Thanks guys.

Also can anyone confirm these are 1 in 12 twist? I want to get close to the right bullet the first time!

I've only fed mine with surplus 762 Nato and commercial 308 winch. It shoots very well for about 40 rds then groups widen a bit as the barrel fouls.

I'd love to rebarrel it to preserve it's "shooter" status, but ain't sure of what it might do to it's collector status/appeal (someone before me has already refinished it).

Mine likes factory and reloaded 150gr berry bullets. The chamber is tight so don't mix up your other 308 brass with ones shot in the mauser.

Mine is in exc condition throughout, eats everything and is very accurate. The M98 is a strong action and can handle .308 and bigger calibers no problem.
