I was sneaking along pretending I was quiet when a doe broke out of some logging slash and crossed just 50 yd or so in front of me. I flipped off the safety and scanned behind her, and sure enough, a nice buck was running right behind. So I swung the crosshairs along his body and touched off just as I swung ahead. Put a bullet behind his ear.
On the walk back to camp a grouse was scratching around under a spruce. So I flipped up the rifle sight and plinked it with a .22 magnum solid.
I really love the versatility of this set up, a Krieghoff Trumpf dural 16x16/7x57R with .22 mag insert barrel. I can hunt anything in our province with that combination.

Very nice deer and rifle and definitely versatile however I think a Krieghoff is beyond the reach of many a hunter on here financially at least for a hunting firearm. I know I'm one but it's nice to dream! Congrats!

About the cost, my drilling cost about the same as three other medium quality firearms. I'd rather just have one really good one. We Canadians just aren't used to paying that much for one good gun. And I have chosen to walk and not to drive an ATV in the bush, which it is easy to spend $10,000 on. More than double the cost of my gun. Depends on your priorities!

Congratulations on a great find and deal. There was a used Krieghoff double rifle in the Cabelas Edmonton South gun library two or three years ago when I was there, can't recall the model, grade or exact calibre? 460 or 500 Nitro Express? Something along those lines? Came with some factory ammo, dies, hard luggage case etc. If memory serves asking price was 12K. I shoot trap with a fellow who has a K-80 Super Scroll combo with some major upgrades. He paid 29K U.S a few years ago. That gun is now 40K to replace.
