What factory 22-250 round will cause a 5.5hp engine to stop with one shot at 100m?

So for some reason I bet my buddy 100 bucks that my 22-250 could do enough damage to an old 5.5 hp honda mower to make the engine stop at 100 meters.

Shooting the fuel line or spark plug doesnt count, it has to be something that that a couple minutes taken to replace the plug or line couldnt fix.

I figure right for the cylinder, dead center.

But what factory ammo will give me the best penitration?

I will be taking pictures to show the damage. He is providing the mower.

At 100 m any bullet will do it with a cylinder hit. Use a steel core FMJ round just to be sure. That will pass through 1/2" steel plate at 100 m out of a .223

22-250

use the fastest stuff you can find.i have a 3/8 mild steel ground hog target that i use for 22lr/mag.but once i hit it with 223 and 22-250 at 200yds and ruined it.the ammo was win usa 45 grainers.a hit dead center in the cylinder would do the trick.try to video it.

If you have time I can send you a few 62 gr fmj that I pulled.
Load them up in the 22-250 & the 5.5 won't even slow her down.:dancingbanana: DAN>>>

I say it won't work and if it does I want pictures. Notice I'm not betting anything :) I should have thought of this post before, so I could get free rounds from CGN members.

Reminds me of when .357 magnums were the new thing and the Cop Cartoons had the officers stopping the BG by shooting the engine block in his vehicle. Let's go all out! there must be an auto wrecker where we can have a demolition shoot. Will a .505 Gibbs stop a Western Star?

send me your info i will send you a couple of steallcore SS109 greentip bullet

22-250 and .223 are Greek to me, but if you can hand load a .223 bullet into a .22-250 casing (safely ,that is), that would sound like the best option.

By 'stop', does it mean stop the engine immediately, or can it be damaged and then just fail eventually?

Either way, a 22 cal bullet at high velocity will easily crack the cast iron in the engine.

I say just punch one through the cylinder wall and it will fail soon enough.

Just about any bullet @ 22-250 speeds will easily reduce the oil pressure on that motor.:D :D Proabably even stop it dead it you get luck and hit it right.

The posts on CGN get dumber by the day......

What the hell are you talking about? Are you saying that it would not be fun to try?

Sheesh, if I were near where this event was taking place I'd love to be there :p

Pretty muich anywhere in the cast iron or aluminum block oughta stop it cold. For best results, I'd go for the cylinder wall, although if the cylinder is sleeved, it might not be the most spectacular kill
