Ok so we have a thread going on who is going to be hunting turkey this spring what I am curious about is what firearm/cartridge are you going to be using?

Myself I was thinking of taking my T/C Contender carbine with either my 10mm or 223 barrels or my Marlin in 17HMR.

I'm not into using a shotgun.

In B.C., centerfire rifles are NOT legal to hunt turkey with. Rimfire, shotgun, or bows, ONLY (and check the regs for which is legal in which season - for instance, rimfires are not legal in the fall season, and there is usually a bow-only season as well).

If you're not into a shotgun, get a 22mag or 17HMR with the 20 grain XTP/GamePoints.

X2

Cam, you better stick to the HMR.

For myself, if I make it out, I'll be using my 77/22 (22LR).:dancingbanana:

from my interpretations of the regs you are looking at:

spring - bow, rimfire, or shotgun.
sept 1-30 bow only in region 4
oct 1-15 bow or shotgun in region 4
oct 1-nov 30 bow, rimfire, or shotgun in region 8

no centrefires for turkey.

Wish I could use a rimfire. It's going to be my first turkey season. I'm gonna try for one with the new Baikal MP-153 and one with the bow.

Well here in Ontario I am restricted to bow or shotgun. Therefore, I am using a bow for the first while, and if nothing works out then I plan on switching to the Benelli Nova with some 3.5'' 2oz loads!
