What foreward grip for Dlask 6.5" shotgun?

I am planning to get one of Dlasks 6.5" 870 shotguns with trijicon night sights this year to be my bush gun.

My question is what grip could I use on such a short railed foregrip? I need something that is easy to grab and not over extend my hand/fingers beyond the end of the barrel, also I need to be able to mount a light. With such a short foregrip how can you comfortably run the shotgun?

Anyone care to share their photos of the 6.5" shotgun they own?

Any videos of the 6.5" 870?

You probably want some kind of vertical foregrip, preferably one that's a bit chunky so it won't bite into your hand too much and is able to fold, since a fixed VFG adds a lot of bulk to what should be a small package.

Safety Harbor Firearms makes a Serbu Super Shorty style folding grip that attaches to a rail, unfortunately somebody keeps hacking their website and its down at the moment.

There's also a few other folding grips I've seen used in a bunch of custom shorty builds like the Yankee Hill Machine AR-15 Folding Vertical Grip.
 
I have an 8 1/2 and it is damned near impossible to stick your finger in front of the barrel if you have any kind of hold on the grip at all. Once you get one in your hand you will see this. Unless you have restrictions to 2 + 1 rounds in the bush, I would go with the 8.5 personally, it gives you 3+1 and you won't even notice the difference in length or weight. Those railed forends tend to bite like hell. I actually really like the forend that comes on the Dominion arms 8.5 that Can am sells. I picked one up on the EE for next to nothing
 
Thanks folks, I am thinking a Urbino Stock and Magpul RVG might be just the ticket.

I haven't used the Trijicon ghost rings before so I am not sure how they will work with the Urbino stock.

dogzilla I shot my Fabarm a lot and practice reload drills, I really like that the 6.5" gets the gun down to 27" I think it is, I want as short as legally possible. I will likely add a side saddle too and just practice a lot.

I have ridiculously short arms and can still put my whole hand over the muzzle of my 12.5" Dlask with short Hogue stock when squared up.

It's not that I'm going to manage to get my hand in a bad place under normal circumstances, but add in a charging animal, a slick grip, wearing gloves etc and I'd certainly like the margin of safety a vertical grip provides if running an even shorter barrel.

i agree with dogzilla but i put a cut down remington forend on mine and like it better than either dlask or DA .
 
Serbu is not interested in selling their foreends even though there is a small market here.
It sure looks like a basic yet functional design...... I wonder if it's still patented?

A simple strap bolted to the foreend is an easy fix.

Safety Harbor offers their very similar KEG-12 grip as a separate item, or at least they did before someone keeps hacking their website.

I wonder if it's a licensed copy as they seem so similar?

I tried dealing with them as well but it's a hassle due to the border.
 
That might be from an HK SP89.
Up until yesterday I thought it and the mp5 were the same SMG.

Learn something new everyday...

I'd probably go with a magpul RVG as well.
I have an AFG on my 14" length 870P, but muzzle-stroking isn't much of an issue there.
You could cut down the RVG, I got one off EE that had been cut on an angle about halfway up and stippled. I use it as a hand stop on the right hand side of the slide to return the slide to battery when doing emergency reloads.
