regret selling

The one I regret getting rid of was a nice Remington 700 in 22-250, I traded it to another cgn member and got a piece of crap .338 Parker Hale junker with a bent magazine that fed like crap. Sure wish I never made that deal

Mine would be a sweet little Belgium made Browning Hi-Power I bought off a guy I was stationed with. That was my first handgun and it was an awesome shooter.

I wish I could keep them all...but the one I regret the most for selling is a pre-64 Winchester Model 88 in .308win. :( I shot my first whitetail with that one and I kick myself for getting rid of it.

:(

Never sold one of my own guns, but my dad traded his Winchester model 88 in .308win. Nice gun, particularly for whitetail deer in southern Ontario. I never should have let him sell that one.

I once owned and traded off a mint late 50's production model 97 Winchester pump gun. I also traded off a late '50s production model 12 16 gauge with a 26" imp cyl choked barrel. I still call out for them late at night....

cheers Darryl

selling sadness

Hi (now) regret selling two. a Marlin .444 and a Browning A-Bolt Medallion in 7mm Rem mag.
A fellow gets all caught up trading and selling. Don't get me wrong, it's a ton of fun, but woeful things can transpire when looking into the next pasture. (Grass is greener, you know):(

Arch:rolleyes:

My father's old Sako in 30 06. I could of built one hell of a rifle out of it but at the time I had no interest in custom and the decision was made to thin the herd based on which rifles were most active.

Could care less if rifles don't get used often now. Would love to have 20 in the safe.

I don't remember what amount of money changed hands in the deal, but many years ago, when I moved "up" to a pump gun, my younger brother came into possession of the first gun that was really mine. It was a single shot Cooey 12 g., which came to me brand spanking new as a gift from my parents. I treated that gun like it was some fancy, perfectly balanced, engraved, two piped Italian import, and I used it to knock a fair number of ducks and a few Alberta pheasants out of the sky. I don't regret the fact that my brother assumed ownership of it, nor that he got probably even more use out of it than I did. What haunts me whenever I think of that gun, is that it was stolen out of his vehicle. That was back in the mid to late sixties. To this day I can still see the whisp of smoke escaping from the chamber, and catch the scent of burnt powder that lingered in the barrel each time I broke it open after firing shot. I know there are lots of old Cooeys around, but only one amongst them was my first love...others would only be pretenders.

I had a Manliccher-Schoenauer take-down rifle in 9.5X56. Traded it to a friend of mine in a moment of weakness for two rifles.

I will never understand why I did that!

Ted

Oooohhhhh, that's gotta hurt! In my opinion there is nothing quite as slick as cycle the bolt on those little Mannlicher-Schoenauers. And the caliber, my goodness Ted, you must have been really weak that day.

When I got diagnosed with MS I sold off a bunch of stuff for a variety of reasons.. So far the only the one one I really regret selling was my Coonan B...

In a way I regret it, but it made room for my first custom rifle

sold the 7saum, brought in a custom 260 Rem

the old m700 SS 7saum

I once traded an Ithaca/SKB M200 SxS in 20ga, 25", IC/M for a Browning 20ga Citori.

I wish I hadn't :(

SC..............................

I traded a model 81 BLR .308 (in excellent condition) to a fellow CGNer for a pre-81 BLR in .358 (supposed to be in VG condition). Not a bad trade I thought. The .358 showed up in pretty rough shape! Scratched all to hell, rust and pitting on receiver and bbl, broken rear site...
Damn...
