What happened to Sergeant Elmer R. Bonter?

Sergeant Elmer R. Bonter, Canadian Army Film and Photo Unit, was attached the 1st Canadian Parachute Battalion and took some amazing photos but I can't seem to find any record of what happened to him. There doesn't seem to be any of his photos in the archives taken after June 1944. Was wondering if he perished during D-Day or what might have happened to him.

Apparently he survived the war and went into journalism in Prince Edward County. He died in 1991. https://images.ourontario.ca/Partners/BelPL/BelPL003798154pf_0001p.pdf
