About a year ago a Machinists who has done gunsmithing over the past few years for me asked me what I thought about his stock 10/22. I said meh, it's like mine and 100 of thousands other Canadians Rugers.
He mentioned he likes working on stocks as well.
Over a few months he showed me a press plate he made to make Barrett style bipods, his Parkerizing set up, and this common 10/22 wood stock stock with wood slabs epoxied to it.
Then his threaded stock barrel, parkerized barrel sleeve and spacer that supported the assembly.
Then the bolt handle as he disliked hitting the knobs on his scope when cocking the Ruger.
Then the stock CNC'd riser components, monopod, and adjustable buttplate.
Finally I get a call saying pop down to the range.
I shot his 10/22 and WOW!!!!
The 2 lb trigger with the trigger stop is just incredible, the stock adjusted to fit me, the beefy forend free floating just felt right, the 20mm rail bipod and monopod were so stable it was like it was clamped to the shooting table! Loved the barrel sleeve, he said he might use oil as well for harmonics testing, but shooting at a very fast pace all 10 rounds at 25 yards were just a ragged hole, cannot wait until gopher season.
Anyways here are some pics of his Fall project, I think I might get him to tune mine as well, as he already threaded my barrel and did trigger tune. Must be nice to have a fully equipped CNC shop.
