Okay for arguments sake lets say I just bought a Tavor-21 which is non restricted. The liberals come in power somewhere down the road and ban all assault rifle/scary guns. Will this new law be grandfathered in or will they just confiscate the newly banned firearms. I just don't want to buy a gun and then have to give it up in a few years. Also can you shoot prohibited firearms at a range.

Thanks

Right now, no 12(2-3-4-5) prohibited firearms can be transported to a range.

If a firearm is prohibited by Order In Council, there is no provision for creation of another 12(x) category, so confiscation without compensation would result.

If legislation were used to create new prohibited firearms, grandfathering could happen.

You are speculating on what a future government might or might not do. There is no answer. If you want a Tavor, buy one. I was lucky enough to shoot the sample, and it is an impressive rifle.
