Title says it all. The inside is marked with a C broad arrow. I think it is a Hi Power holster but I'm not sure. Anyone know for sure? Does the chain belong there and if it does, what's it for?
That was quick. Thanks. I don't see how a magazine will fit in it though unless it was supposed to be loose in the holster. There is a spot for the cleaning rod.

The leather slot is where the cleaning rod went and just behind it was where the metal liner went to hold the spare 9mm magazine. You can see how the stitching is reinforced to support it.
Thanks for the information BadgerDog. I can see where the mag holder was, it was on the back edge of the holster, below the Broad Arrow.
The holster looks used but I have no idea where the mag holder went. I picked up the holster a garage sale.
"...marked with a C broad arrow..." That indicates CF issue. I have one around here some place too. Late W.W. II, Korea and later. Used until the switch to the nylon holster, I think. The chain doesn't belong there.
FWIW, this is the first pattern (chinese) contract Inglis holster. It was found to be overly tight and hard to insert the pistol. Many (most?) were never issued which accounts for the good condition they are found in.
The later second pattern holster is similar, but much better. Alot of WW2 European photos also show officers who adapted the Webley pattern holsters to their Hi-Powers. Neat stuff.
