LOL! Is that the first thing that comes to your mind when you hear "National Geographic"?

I would think that they were talking about guns designed by Mikhail Timofeevich Kalashnikov. He was the main designer of the AK-47 and many others.

Look for his own brand of Vodka in a liqueur store near you! OK, I haven't seen it here yet but he's only been selling it since 2004 apparently!

Still... un-stylish or not.... he's still one of (if not THE!) most famous firearms designers of all time. No one remembers who designed the FN or the M14 but everyone knows who made the AK.

Regards,

Famous Firearms Designer

The AK is only one gun design by Mikhail Timofeevich Kalashnikov. But the one person that made most of the designs in the firearms world has to be John Browning. If you read his life's story and the designs he came up with has to be phenomenal.
He designed most of the Winchester lever actions, Colts handguns, FN's GPMG, BAR, and M2 HMG. I don't think there is another man that has single handedly made more contributions to the firearms world.

Still Kalashnikov is more famous than Browning in all of the world hotspots ;)

Kalakov is another name for the Krinkov, ie smaller Kalashnikov with the 5.45x39 round

Krinkov is not a real name. That name is commonly used in the US for a short AK variant and everybody thinks it is a real name. I have no idea who came up with that name.

As for Kalakov, Klashinkov and other, a lot of these mis-spelled names originate from third world countries that use the Avtomat Kalashnikov but cannot pronounce the name properly:)
