What is a fair price for an MG42-"#### & click"

I am trying to get a sense of what the the fair market value would be for the MG42 shown below and what the the demand might be.

The gun was Gustloff assembled in 1943---the visable numbers are matching.
The sling is manufacturer marked and also dated 1943.

Thanks for any help in this regard.
I hope the photos below will give you a sense of this gun.

In the $2200-$2600 range would get it sold, or you could list it at $4500 like some do and likely sit on it for a long time.

Just my opinion. With the right buyer you might get towards the higher end.

On a serious note, I have seen them anwhere from $2300 to $4000. Nice piece of history you have there though. I would just love to run a belt through.lol.

Very nice example. The prices quoted are bang on. No less than two and probably no higher than four, unless you get the right buyer.

I have been offered 4 in the past 6 years for $800 - $1000! Dammit, dammit, dammit!!!!!!

I always hate paying big bucks for welded up toys, but if I had known they were such great deals..... well...

My god if the classifications ever changed, what a lost part of history to be able to unleash the occasional 50 rds with.

With todays laws, I guess its better for someone to enjoy and handle it in their collection as a conversation/show piece. I'd say worth every penny of the 2600-3500 range.

Give or take , I've seen then for about $2500. Yeah if you look around there are some people who think they are sitting on gold and are asking nearly twice that much, but they do not ever sell.
