What is a Mauser converted to .308 worth?

The FR7 and FR8 were chambered in 7.62 NATO. That they were chambered for the CETME round is a myth. Failure testing showed that the rifles are safe up to pressures well in excess of the Nato round.

I have an FR7 that runs a steady diet of 7.62 Nato.

X2 - I have an FR7 as well.

I am convinced, like most myths, that this one will never die. This one suffers a double whammy: it's Spanish and therefore crap; and it's a M96 without the critical third lug, and therefore a killer in wait.

There's always some bonehead who tells of his cousin's friend's gunsmith who knows this guy who was seriously injured by one, and other guys who will prove their story by posting some recycled pic of an injured hand that's been used widely on forums from farming to fireworks to firearms. People done seen it on the Interwebs, and so it be true.

Still, I try.
