I measured the relative humidity at ~45% at 15c in the storage cabinets in my basement. Is this an acceptable humidity level for long term (2 to 5 years) storage of pistol caliber and rim fire ammo? Not too worried about the pistol rounds, but I noticed that in some of the various rim fire rounds, the bullet is actually a little loose from the shell so I'm thinking the propellant would be exposed to the environment. Should I start investing in metal ammo can's and dehumidifying packs for long term storage, or would this be ok?

Just to clarify, when you say foodsavers, you mean the vacum sealer variety? If so, that's brilliant. We've thought about getting one (for food) but this would be an added extra.
