So is this coordinated?

First: In CanAm's Type 97 thread it is revealed that the RCMP has asked for a sample to review and that the shipment will be held in customs until they are done.

THEN: John from Marstar states that the CFC has mysteriously reclassified the shipment of 58's and UK 59.

Is this a big coincidence or is something else going on? I certainly hope not.

This must be very frustrating to the dealers who work hard to comply with the Law and then have some bureaucrat hold up their business operations.

RANT OFF...

I TOTALLY agree with you Clobbersauras... I'm not sure it's a conspriacy, but the LIEberal "ROT" has found it's way through society... Feel good LIEberals are in positions of influence and can impose their "feelings" on the masses...

"Somebody" in some position of power, be it the RCMP or Customs, has put the brakes on the import of these firearms. I'm no expert, but with the T97, it's NON-restricted by the "current" rules & on the FRT disk as such... It should be a simple matter of confirming the details on the rifles being imported AND RELEASING THEM!!!

Anyhow... Back to waiting...

Cheers
Jay

This is another reason customers should cut Marstar and Cannada Ammo some freakin slack. Imagine the stress this would cause!! Having hundreds of thousands of dollars in limbo at the pen stroke of the CFC, customs, whomever.

Yeah, it seems marstar and Canada ammo are some of our best friends at the moment. Lets hope this gets sorted out in a hurry, these guys are great and too bad there has been some dumping on them.

It's not surprising that's marstars stuff was refused too. The cfc and cbsa answer to no one, and make things up as they go.

I hope that canam and johnone give us exact details of what has transpired, so we can start writing letters to our mps and the solicitor general.

Perhaps all the hype about them here has put a huge spotlight on these rifles.

Personally I hope they are still allowed in as Non-restricted.

Also I am surprised that the dealers involved did not send a sample to the RCMP before this though.
Being a new type of firearm on the CFC data base and all.

Figures. I bought a CZ858 off of another fellow CGN'er, and the CFC wouldn't release it to me, because its going to the CFO for review. I asked why, and they couldn't tell me. BS if you ask me. I hope everything gets smoothed out in the CGN communities' favour.

Cheers,

- Mac

Are you suggesting that ALL VZ-58/CZ858's are going to be prohibited?

Is it time for me to start panicking? :(

i dont think so but i cant speak for the restricted VZ58 that are being held up, john was not clear whether its just the VZ59 or its both the VZ59 and VZ58S that are being re-classified.

as for Mac , going to CFO means it has something to do with him and not the rifle (i could be wrong).

Sigh... probably the cfc pulling something out of their butt to try to stick it to the importers again - like all that "scary surplus" that they ordered off the shelves.

Good on Marstar and Canada Ammo for fighting these ludicrous buggers.

I thought the ammo thing was due to nrcan?

Either way, my tinfoil is on tight right now, I feel a semi ban coming. Maybe the one caveat of the registry dying is the restriction/prohibition of semis?

I guess a gang war in Van at the moment doesn't help things. Maybe that's the reason, all the current gun violence, and the border twits want to feel like they're making a difference. But hey, if these idiots want to prevent John Q. Honest GunOwner from spending his hard earned money to support local business and helping the Canadian economy, then they can take the blame.

hope everything works out , i saw a write up in the local paper not too long ago about how
there are LOL "holes" in the Canadian firearm system , and used the vz-58 as an example...
of how LOL "bad" firearms are getting across the border. I think it was in the Ottawa Sun ,
anyways , Bunch of non-educated fools if you ask me....not like the writer knew anything about firearms and how they function.

I wonder if John or CanAm have any ways to combat this type of bs. They should be able to sue for damages if you ask me. They are bringing in perfectly legitimate products into the country, there is no excuse for this pathetic attempt at stopping it.

I totaly agree with everyone that has posted here. I would just like to say publicly to the CFC & RCMP one thing...
PISS OFF YOU WANKERS & DO YOUR JOB FOR ONCE!!!
I just hate it that as soon as there is some criminals do something "ILLEGAL", us law abiding citizens catch the back draft by so called "STIFFER REGULATIONS". Like that is going to help out any one stop "CRIMINALS" from comiting any "CRIMES". Any importer that needs some help in resolving this matter please post on this thread how you would like us to help out and atleast I and hopefully others here will try to do what we can to resolve this :bsFlag:.

It's not the first time RCMP and the Customs people do err on things like that one.
Marstar sued, won and got their a**es flogged at one time.
The Québec's SQ, if I remember well, were forced to pay a fine for their misconduct.
Looks like they have forgotten that... or are seeking petty revenge...
PP.

All VZ58 have been re classed to prohibited. This means all transfers are frozen until they can inform all the owners to bring them in for destruction. Isn't living in a socialist Hell hole great?
