Crap - should have kept my VZ-58 - could have got a prohib/12.5 license out of the deal. ;) Obviously, that WON'T be happening.

This REALLY blows. This whole delay will cost Marstar and Can-Am a TON of money. I'm sure they didn't pay for the shipments with cash, so borrowing costs just went up. :(

Re-classifying AFTER the paperwork is done? Now THAT'S a screw job!

It would be nice to get some clarification on whats is going on. Did the CFC make a paper error, someone at CFC having a hissy fit, or is the CFC really making a push on reclassifying firearms. Too many vague unknowns here, and rumor's are going wild.

I hope this all works out for the best but if they want my Vz 58s they can have it in pieces! If they do come to collect can we press on with a class action lawsuit?

GUNSLINGER;
"John, do you mean the VZ59's, VZ58's, or short VZ58's?"
The Vz-59 has "issues" which we will look into....
The VZ-58 variants have had their classification changed after the fact.

To answer your next question regarding imports, in this case we applied for new FRTs on the weapons six months before importing them, they were approved and new FRTs were issued by the CFC.
We applied for and were granted IICs to import same....
Once arrived the application for the import license was submitted to DFAIT and approved.
AFTER THEY WERE HERE the folks in Ottawa did a new determination on them and re-classified them prohibited.

"What gives them the right to change their minds half way through"
NOT halfway through, AFTER the fact.

IN SHORT, take all precautions, spend your money, import the goods, then have them banned for public sale.... Interesting precedent ?
John

Thats from marstars thread.
