I just spoke to my gunclub secretary today and she was calling to my attention for recent changes in C21:

"PLEASE CHECK the new C21 list as some semi auto air guns are listed as “prohibited”.

I have not seen the document yet.

If this government cannot be open and clear in their directives with regard to changes to firearms ownership to those affected....screw them. Continue doing whatever it is you do and let them correct you if they happen to notice and take offence. Laws are meant to be sensible fair and just. When laws are not, they are generally not adhered to.

posession and use of a prohibited weapon with ammo is 3 years so choose wisely which laws you dont adhere to

I have a semi auto air, the Edgun Leshiy2, a quick search in the pdf didn't gave me any hits what was/is currently owned in Canada. My FX Impact is also a bullpup but manual mag.

Teac has a 'Major Point' here - I'm not risking any repercussions over a $500 rifle. If I was homeless, indigent and bereft of common sense, maybe then.
As for airguns, is seems they're OK for now, BUT there is the potential of the considered prohibition of "Replica firearms'; it just depends on how 'close' a replica is going on the 'Next List'. And especially the 'higher powered' PCPs . . . time will tell.

Buy your desired replica airguns now. It looks like they may eventually be "prohibited" but you will still be able to own and use them. Odd definition for prohib but that's the way they are calling it ... for now. "Prohibited from importation, exportation, transfer and sale in Canada."

Prohibit mid-velocity 'replica' airguns
The Government is proposing to prohibit airguns that:

closely resemble a real firearm (replica); and
discharge a projectile at a velocity between approximately 366 and 500 feet per second.
These airguns could no longer be imported, exported, transferred or sold. However current owners could continue to possess and use their existing airguns.

Mid-velocity airguns that do not closely resemble a real firearm would be unaffected. The Government intends to work with stakeholders including law enforcement and industry, to ensure the practical implementation of this initiative.

Airsoft was underground before and it'll go underground again. Impossible to track sales of something that wasn't ever registered.

Airsoft maybe,
but airguns especially PAL/RPAL rated have SerialNumbers and I would not be surprised if these getting tracked in the system from a moment you left the counter.

" ... but you will still be able to own and use them. " - You're speculating this, there's NO Confirmation that anything will be "Allowed" to be kept. Again, this goes to the value of what you have to lose. . . $500 gun or Freedom or Your Home.
I can't afford to fight ANY OF THIS BS in court - can you ??
YMMV

So, you guys coming to me at the airgun side? Trust me it is fun shooting/practising/training and costs peanuts, so far.
I think I had this year about 6-7K shots from .22 and .25 combined, for less then $400 I guess.

I just picked up a FX Impact M3, can't wait to open the cottage in the spring so I can shoot the thing :)

Umm they were subject to registry the same as a Non Restricted rifle, when we had a LGR. So I'm not surprised. They're firearms in the CC once over 500fps/4.2fpe so yes they're being tracked. You are required to PAL check.

So many think your airgun are going to be safe.. Nope. Blame the Airgun community and the mods on the airgun site for ignoring, as even back in 2016, I was like we better fight, and lobby up with the gun community, as I expected this stuff to happen, nah just ban me. And then proof, C21 comes and airgunners are whyyyyyyy.

They will just ban the import of airguns and airsoft. As they quickly can snap their fingers. Like they did with handguns

Air guns that resemble real firearms are the current target. Non shooting replicas have been banned for years. Possession is OK but not to produces, sell or otherwise acquire.

Not even ones that resembles real firearms. C21 gonna kill the whole sub 500 fps market. Crosman 2240 for example. Their are registered restricted ones, same as 2289, 13xx, so any sub 500 would be a replica of their full power ones.

I'm not sure how a PAL airgun would be tracked. You bought a 1000fps air rifle a few years ago and your name and rifle number were entered into a book at a Canadian store. The rifle was sold 3 times before the new online PAL checks became necessary. When you do a PAL check you don't enter a serial number so the CFC has no idea what rifle or rifles you are transferring to the guy who you verified as having a PAL. If this "PAL check transfer" happens several more times then I can't understand how anyone can trace who has the air rifle. The serial number was only written down once many years ago. I sold an old vintage PAL air rifle last year that didn't even have a serial number. I had a couple of PAL airguns that I bought in the USA that have never had the serial numbers entered anywhere in Canada. Maybe I sold them and the new owner also sold them.

Tracking a common Crosman 38T replica would be even more interesting. The serial number was never recorded at a store and transfers do not require PAL checks. Nobody has any idea who owns the 38T or when it was given to a friend or when someone borrowed it for 5 years. There is a huge amount of replica air pistols in Canada dating as far back as the 60s. The Crosman 357 is another massive seller that could make it to the replica list. Lots are broken or leaking and laying forgotten in closets, garages and camps. I guess the Crosman Mk1 would be another. Interesting things to watch and shake our heads at the senselessness.

I am debating myself these days, to buy a 2019 Edgun Leshiy Classic second hand (from other part of Canada) or get a BNIB 2023 FX Pantera for a double cost from an official store.
And from here I am getting to a next point that is overlooked these days, shipping airguns. Transaction person to person is easy. If you need to ship it, declaring the content what is in the box and canadapost will most likely refuse to handle.

Canada post ships firearms every day. They do have rules about packaging, but why would you need to "declare the content" on domestic shipping? I had a few airguns shipped in the past few months and do not remember ever seeing any declaration.
