I have a chance at a LNIB Winchester 94 AE compact, 30/30, with a 16 inch barrel. The stock is a very nice walnut. There is no sign the gun has ever been fired.

The seller wants 600.

What do you think?

Spend $1000 to $1100 andget one that is new and unfired. Used 94s are not worth the asking prices most are asking.

So a LNIB, possibly unfired M94 Trapper is not worth 1/2 price of a new one? Not to say anything of the fact that the Compact has a shorter LOP than is available in a new production M94.

I think the AE is a great improvement in the Win 94 design since they have a flat top receiver and can be scoped very easily. You will not be disappointed with this gun or especially this design. My AE is not a shorty (wish it was) and I like it so well I got rid of all my top eject models since I cannot use open sights any longer and the old 94s cannot be properly scoped without and offset mount that is just wrong. As for the price, it sounds a bit high. I bought my Ranger AE looking just like new with factory bases, rings, and (great) scope for $400 shipped. Just my opinion.
